Front Desk Training – Calculating Formula Ratios

Sometimes you may have to calculate formula ratios. This happens commonly in three conditions:

  1. When we want to increase formula amounts so that the main ingredient will be dispensed using a full 100 gram bottle to avoid nearly empty bottles sitting on our shelf.
(In the demo the patient’s formula was already calculated in this method.)
  2. When a patient needs to be taking a certain amount of formula for a certain number of days.
    E.g. Post surgery a patient will be taking 2g, 3 times per day, for 21 days; we need to dispense 2g x 3 x 21 = 126 grams total.
  3. When we do not have enough herbs on our shelf to dispense a full order.
(In the demo, this is exactly what happened.)

Until you become VERY COMFORTABLE with this process, you will be given the learning opportunity to make the calculations, then Brett will double check your calculations before you actually dispense any herbs.
